Give a Kid a Smile Day!

FREE DENTAL CARE FOR HUNDREDS OF

CHILDREN- WACO, TEXAS

Nearly one in four children aged two to eleven years old have untreated cavities in their baby teeth, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and

Prevention. Many children enrolled in Medicaid receive no dental services throughout the year. Each year Give kids a Smile day is celebrated nationally on the first Friday in

February. GKAS events are intended to be touch points for children who do not receive regular dental care. The goals for a GKAS program should be to: 1.

Provide care to children who are suffering from untreated disease; 2- disease prevention and education into communities; 3. to establish a dental home for

these children- in other words, provides continuity of care. The Heart of Texas Community Elm Dental Clinic will be hosting Give Kids A

Smile event in the community as a way to provide free dental care to local children. This is the first year the event has been hosted in Waco, Texas. Click here for more information.
